Have you ever played the game, ‘Hide-and-Seek, or perhaps by another name, Hide-and-go-Seek?” As children, many of us have. In hiding, we were seeking a secret place where we wouldn’t be found so quickly by the seeker. To win the game, we would have to be the last one who couldn’t be found. We would stay hidden until the seeker finally gives up and calls out, “Olly, Olly Oxen Free”, meaning, “come on out, you won the game!”
Although we’re no longer children, nor entertain the game Hide-and-Seek, we do have a ‘Seeker’ who never ceases to seek for us; who will never gives up. His name is Jesus. He can easily find us in our secret place. A place away from the world, the crowd, noise, confusion, and distractions. That place is with and in Him. He is our secret place of communion, comfort, and care. I ask, “Can He find you in your secret place?” Be assured, He’s always readily available, and He’s always there. Let us seek the secret place. No need to run and hide; our lives are already hidden in Him. Just seek.
“You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7).
“For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3).
“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:6).
I will keep on thanking God for my secret place in Him. By Hertistine Washington/keeponthanking.com
