Treat, No Tricks

I don’t usually post about Halloween. I think this is the first time ever. However, because this 2020 Halloween is somewhat different due to the Pandemic and CDC guidelines, I am finding myself doing many things for the first time, some in a new way. I want all our children to be safe and still have fun this Halloween.

I’ve been thinking about what they’ve been accustomed to in the past, as they walked along with their parents through the neighborhoods trick or treating. And how they went from house to house dressed in fun and interesting costumes, gathering sweet treats from the same basket at the same time. Now because of the coronavirus and the need to social distance and wear masks, this practice is not encouraged or safe to do any more with the public. So what can we do to make this time a fun and exciting one for our children?

One way is to avoid going into the neighborhoods seeking treats. Provide treats at your home. Play in your own backyard. You can still dress up, decorate your homes, and hide treats throughout so your children can seek them out. Along with your children, you can pretend to be a child again! That maybe one of the best treats for your child ever, playing with you! Truly, we want all children to be safe, feel safe, and never worry about being tricked. So this year, let’s take the trick out of Halloween and fine ways to treat our children that will make them beam!

“To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!” (Proverbs 15:23 esv)

“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17esv )

I will keep on thanking God that He never tricks but always treats his children. Dear Lord, I pray that you will keep all children safe this season, and help parents to find innovative ways at home to treat their children in Jesus name, amen. By Hertistine Washington/keepnthanking.com
