Take a Look

We’ve heard people say, we’re living in a fast moving world! True? Not so. Well… what does that statement really means? Actually, the world is on its axial and is moving at a steady pace, as God has designed. It has not moved one centimeter out of place. He has the world in His hand. So… we can’t say this statement or sense of acceleration is true of the world, can we?

Why not take a look at how we’re moving? Have we considered how fast we move from point A to point B? Within those points, are we the ‘one’ who’s moving in a hurried fashion, not the world? Are we trying to accomplish 5, 10, 15 things at a time? I know that many women (and some men) are multitaskers, but this can be a bit much, wouldn’t you agree? If you do, take a look and see if you are trying to get everything done in one day. If so, start observing how exhausted you feel.

I know when I fail to pay attention on how fast I’m moving (in trying to do ‘this’ in order to get ‘this with that’ done), I feel myself becoming anxious, nervous, unsettled, and short tempered. This is definitely not the way to work effectively, especially when we’re working for the Lord. God said, “Let all things be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40). Don’t tire yourself out where you can’t function in the right spirit; simply stop and take a look to get a good picture of a more excellent way.

One way to do this is to ask God to show you how to set priorities. The first thing– be still, and take a look in God’s looking glass (His Word) for wisdom. Look to Him in prayer for order and direction. He will surely show you what you need to see; do first, second, third, and so on. After which, when you take a look (a really good look), you’ll began to notice new, more orderly, timely, less costly, and better ways to get the task done.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5

I will keep on thanking God that I can always take a look into His Holy book–The Bible, for wisdom and insight.  By Hertistine Washington/keeponthanking.com
