What’s Your Aim?

Hebrews-11-6

“So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him” (2 Corinthians 5:9 ESV). Have you ever been asked the question, what’s your aim? It is a great question every Christian should know the answer to. To ask this question might mean, what’s your goal, intention, dream, wish, purpose in doing what you do? Our ultimate aim should be to please God. Is this your aim today… to please Him?

Our God is so loving and generous, He allows us to do many things that please ourselves. We spend time with friends and family, go on trips, take vacations, shop, etc. Even in these special times we should seek ways of pleasing Him. Let’s pray to make pleasing God our ultimate priority in every endeavor: meditation, conversation, relationship, disagreement, disappointment, even in our observation. Let us stop, look, listen, and seek ways of pleasing Him with faith through Christ.

“When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him” (Proverbs 16:17 ESV).

In God, I will keep on thanking Him for bringing to our attention that our ultimate aim should be to please Him in everything. Lord, thank you for forgiving us of those times we sought to please ourselves without acknowledging you.  By Hertistine Washington /  keeponthanking.com

A Writer’s Chat

20170805_185546_Burst01

Sometimes I just desire to write. It brings me comfort and soothes my appetite. Sometimes I wish God would give me more to say so that I could write everyday. I know He often fills my mind with sweet melodies of every kind. But like most, I too must wait on the Lord’s inspiration. I’m sure there is a message in what I’m writing now, (though it’s yet to be revealed). All I know is, I feel so good writing to the Lord in this very moment. I write: I love you Lord. I love you for giving me a desire to sit and type as I wait on you for insight. This one is for You, Lord…just a little chat, for you’re the one who raise me, and always had my back.

I remember at one time I was so down and out, and didn’t know where to turn. You lifted me and changed my life by placing a desire in my heart to write. My heart yearns deeper for you as I share words of inspirations to the open heart. I say thank you, Lord. You have helped me so. Let my writing always be saturated with thanksgiving and praises to you; and may all writers be encouraged to share words of your love, joy, wisdom, and truth.

My mom said, You will always be with me, and I have found that to be true. She would often said, “There is no God like You.”

“Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honor all the day” (Psalm 71:8 KJV).

In God, I will keep on thanking Him that just a little chat with Jesus makes it right.  By Hertistine Washington/ keeponthanking.com

Mind Guard

20170613_123249We do many things to guard ourselves from danger. We buy auto insurance to guard from having to pay in case we get in an accident. We purchase home security systems to guard against home invasions. Some even buy a mouth guard to protect their teeth from injury. But what about our minds? Have you considered the importance of guarding your mind from unwarranted thoughts that can bring you down, hinder your progress, and in some cases discourage you from doing what you know is right to do?

Since there is power in how we think, we should never underestimate this power. How and what we think can hurt or help us. It could produce failure or success. Jesus said “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus;” “Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” The things above are the things of God. Let us shield our minds with His Word.  It will surely safeguard us from low, harmful, and damaging thoughts.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” Philippians 4:8 KJV.

Love Says “I Do”

Love says “I do” love you.

“I do” see you. “I do” respect you.  “I do” appreciate you.

“I do” honor you. “I do” want you.

“I do” forgive you. “I do” cherish you.

“I do” commit to you. “I do” pray for you.

“I do.”

“I do.”

And I will “do” over and over and over again.

Love says, I will never stop doing because that is what “I do.”

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV).

Bearing the Burden

20170715_151341“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22 KJV). We know with life comes many things. One element we are sure to face are burdens. Sometimes the path can seem so rocky. Sometimes the load can feel so heavy.

Whether in our homes or on our jobs, or in our neighborhoods we ask, where do we go? Where do we run? What is the answer? The answer my friend is Jesus. We must never forget to cast all to Him. He’s our Burden Bearer. I pray we always remember, He is forever there to receive our burdens through prayer.

“For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying ;unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee” (Isaiah 41:14 KJV).

In a Rush?

running-2353880__480“Order my steps in thy word; and let not any iniquity have dominion over me” (Psalm 119:133 KJV). One early morning I found myself rushing. Then I thought, many of us jump out of bed, rushing. We rush to the bathroom and rush to brush our teeth. We even rush to get a bite to eat. Then, we rush out the door on to the street. We rush to our jobs because there are deadlines to meet.

Oh, how we rush! Are you rushing today? I urge you, show down. If you must rush, first rush to the Word of God. It is a good way to pace ourselves. Start with His Word first and watch our steps fall in line. Let’s not be guilty of rushing our lives away.

Now, Lord, please forgive us. We all fall short in making your Word our priority, our passion, our first thought. Lord, help us to hurry to you before anything else. Please help us to pace oursellves enough to first rush to your Word.

“Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way” (Proverbs 19:2 ESV).

“I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments” (Psalm 119:60 ESV).
